He knows my name…he sees the tears that fall…
I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately, and I keep thinking about the fact that God knows our names. Not the names that everyone calls us, but our true, personal names. He knows the names that people may have called us at certain times – stupid, fat, ugly, big forehead, monkey. He knows the names we may have called ourselves at certain times – not worth it, not good enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough. And yet He never calls us any of those names.
He knows our true names, the name he gave us since the beginning of time…He loves us because when He sees us He sees Jesus. He cherishes us. He sees the tears we cry, he sees the pain we go through, yet he calls us to Him. And when we look at Him…when we really look at him, we see who we are, who we were meant to be. We see our past, our present, and our future in context…and all of a sudden we have meaning, and we have purpose.
Are you wondering about the meaning of life? ARe you wondering about your purpose? Are you wondering if you are who they say you are, or who you think you may be late at night when no one is there to hear you say those mean things you wouldn’t even say to a stranger…
He knows your true name…
