Divorce: The curse of a lifetime.
There are some churches that believe if a person has been divorced before, they should not marry again. If you go to any of those churches, then please you can stop reading this post now…
Now for those who are interested in someone who has been divorced before (I’m assuming you would like to marry eventually). Please be very very careful. The chances of a successful second marriage is even lower than the chances of a successful first marriage (50%). Often times people don’t learn from the mistakes of the first marriage, and carry the problems into the second marriage. And if there are children involved, it gets even more complicated… So as I said before…be very very careful.
I used to think that I would never date a guy who was divorced, but, I met a guy a while back who was really cool, was passionate about God, was generous, and had a lot of great qualities, and although I never dated him, I thought to myself that I would date him if we had the opportunity.
Although it always takes two people for there to be a disagreement, and there is no divorce that is wholly one person’s fault, but sometimes it’s not a character flaw that causes divorce. So can it work out between the two of you. Of course it can. Will he compare you to the other? Sometimes he might. Will you find complete fulfillment with him? Umm of course not. But you can both learn to serve each other well… and build the kind of relationship/marriage that so many people dream of.
Dear God,
Help us to see people as you see them. Amen
