Every decision I make is a story I tell – Andy Stanley
I’m a natural storyteller. It’s so bad that sometimes when I’m experiencing something I’m thinking of how I will describe the experience to my friends later…literally going over a step by step re-hashing of the story in my mind.
One habit I learnt recently that has really worked for me is telling my story when I’m upset about something, or someone. I say to myself
“…and just like that she let it go.”
There are times I have to say it more than once, but for the most part it works. I tell this story to myself, imagining that the experience was in the past, imagining that I let my anger or my hurt go…and for some reason it works.
Next time you’re angry imagine that your life is a story you’re telling and just let it go. Next time you’re frustrated or disappointed give yourself permission to let it go. Next time when you’re trying to make a decision, imagine what you want your story to tell…”and just like that she began her amazing journey…”
What story would you like your life to tell?
