Another nice book in the series, teaching women to be women of God. I like many things in this book.* Esthetically – The book color is pleasing, the fonts are inviting, and the length of the book is encouraging.
Substantially the book does what it sets out to do, teach about why we should all have faith in God. The focus on scripture is great, the encouragement to memorize scripture is phenomenal, because the word truly has power. The excerpts from faithful men and women of God was also very good, because these people have a way of describing scripture, or describing God, that could help bring understanding and clarity.
I had some concerns with the book however:
1. Chapter seven talks about the testing of faith and the sovereignty of God.
Indeed God is sovereign, if by sovereign you mean:

6. having supreme rank, power, or authority.
7. supreme; preeminent; indisputable: a sovereign right.
8. greatest in degree; utmost or extreme.
9. being above all others in character, importance, excellence, etc.
Sovereign does not mean God is in control of everything. He has given us to freedom to choose, and when bad things happen, or when bad people do bad things to us, God did not do it. After all “Every good and perfect gift is from above,…who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17). God never changes -if its good its always from Him, if its not good, it’s never from him.

2. Another concern was in Chapter Eight talking about Paul’s thorn in the flesh
The thorn in the flesh referred to, was not a physical ailment, but instead his “infirmities” were caused by “a messenger of satan, sent to torment [him]” 2 Corinthans 12:7-10
Paul lists some of these “infirmities” in the previous chapter
2 Corinthians 11: 24-29
24Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. 25Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; 26In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
27In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. 28Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches. 29Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?30If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.
3. The book later refers to healing, and how some people are not healed, so it must be the will of God. This also is not true.
God always wants you well. Jesus who was the exact representation of God in human form, healed every single person that approached Him for healing. We can’t base God on our experiences, but on His Word.
How can one have faith in God if we believe that he is able, but not always willing? But God IS ALWAYS willing to heal.

We all need to learn God’s attributes because once we learn how good, kind, merciful, gracious, and loving He is, it is easy to be a woman of Faith.
