Trust: It’s not easy to trust people, in fact it’s really hard to trust people. Because many people conditionally accept you, so if they see who you really are, they may just dump you like hot akara. And then there are the people that you tell them your innermost secrets and the next thing you see it on CNN…
[CNN Breaking news: it has just been reported that Osayi likes to pick her nose…]
[what??? how did they find that out? Who told them… sigh***]
And so that’s why thinking of your future spouse and trying to spend the rest of your life with them, and trusting them with all your secrets and innermost desires can be a bit trepidatious (is that even a word?)… but it’s important. Trusting your spouse that when he says he is delayed in traffic, he really is, and when he says that he doesn’t think it’s a good idea for you to buy that property, you can know that it’s because he wants to protect your family…

We often talk about how it’s so important to respect your husband, and for the husband to love the wife. It dawned on me recently that a lack of respect comes from a lack of trust. It’s hard to respect someone if you don’t trust their ideas or their decisions. It’s had to respect someone of you think that your way is the only way that will work. So it’s really important to be able to trust and respect your spouse.
So I pray
I pray that my future spouse and I will be able to trust each other completely in everything that matters. I pray that we will trust each other with our finances, and any financial decision that has to be made. I pray that we will trust that even if we approach situations differently that doing things differently does not necessarily mean doing things wrongly. I pray that we will trust each other with people of the opposite sex, so that jealousy will never be an option in our relationship. I pray that we will trust each other’s decisions, even when we disagree. I pray that we will grow in our understanding of each other, and therefore in our trust for each other every day. And I pray that we will never have any reason to distrust each other. And when reasons to distrust try to creep in, we will address those situations immediately. Amen.
I would like to hear from you: Talk to me.
