Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him – Dr. Charles Stanley
Jean-François Chénier via Compfight
I’ve been thinking about courage a lot lately, and how it takes courage to do the right thing. I began thinking about Dr. Stanley’s favorite saying “Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.”
It takes a lot of trust to be able to just obey God sometimes…because sometimes you can see that trusting God does not make human sense…you can see that it seems crazy…you can feel like you are giving up so much… but the truth is that God can give you so much more…and His desire is to give you so much more.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (Isaiah 40:31)
I went out with a guy last year, and by the first date he was convinced I was “the one” and he kept on trying to convince me…If I hadn’t heard the “you’re the one” spiel so many times, I would have believed him easily. He was a nice enough guy and willing to do whatever he could to make me happy, but his christian foundation was, at best, shaky. I knew from the very beginning that I didn’t need to be with him. I knew that God had something special for me, and the guy I would be with… but still I rationalized…he wasn’t a bad guy…I mean maybe (as he reminded me many times) I was the one to lead him to a better walk with God…
In the end I let him go…it wasn’t easy…even though I knew that God had so much better in store for me…But I’m glad I did let him go…let me tell you that I am so so so so so so super glad I let him go…because what God has for me is so good that I almost can’t believe He saved this amazingness specially just for me…
So I’m encouraging you…Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him…I’m not saying it will be easy, because it probably won’t be easy, otherwise everyone would do it, but focus on the amazingness God has specially for you – His super special baby girl.
